Fine Art Restoration is a subject near and dear to my heart since I’m a fan of the arts and specifically fine art. There are differences between fine art restoration, art conservation and art repair. A good example might be a torn canvas or water damage but some say this is part of the restoration process. Art conservation is the process used to keep paintings from aging incorrectly and curbing the damage caused by UV rays, moisture, temperature, pollutants and many other things.
Be careful when selecting a fine art restoration firm. Always check (3) references and ask to see sample photos of their work, both before and after. If they are out of state and the painting requires shipping, be sure to use a crate and proper packing materials and always buy insurance.
Good luck!
